Product Highlight: Inpex Candle Dye

Inpex has become renowned across the UK and EU for the quality of their candle wax dyes. Inpex’s success is due to their consistent reliability and wide colour range. Currently, we stock a total of 45 Inpex dyes and we will add more stock colours as they become available. This is broken down into 32 colours in the Inpex Deep Dye range, 8 colours in the Inpex SD Dye range, 4 colours in the Inpex Fluorescent Dye range, and Inpex Whitener. Inpex Deep Dye: Our most popular candle dye range is the Inpex Deep Dye range. This is the range we recommend using when making candles using paraffin wax. The Inpex Deep dye is paraffin based and we recommend using a ratio of 1g of dye to 100g of wax. The melting point of the dye is 65°C. Due to the much wider colour range available, some of our customers do choose to purchase this wax for use with natural candle waxes. It is important to note that using the Inpex Deep Dye in natural wax will result in a much more pastel effect. For natural waxe...

Candle Making Guide: Pillar Candles

Pillar candles can be fantastic statement pieces and gifts. However, unlike container candles, they are not designed to burn a full diameter. Instead, they are designed to leave a small tunnel around the outside of the candle, which then burns down as the candle is used. Pillar candles also have a much longer burn time than other types of candles and they can also be a unique selling point for your candle business! Another benefit of pillar candles is that the moulds can be re-used many times - meaning they are both environmentally friendly and more cost effective! This guide will make one 75 x 100mm pillar candle. This candle will have a burn time of over 120 hours! We have a total of 9 different sized pillar moulds so if you’d like to make an alternative size, please contact our team for further candle making advice. What you’ll need:  1 x Double Pan Set (to melt your wax) 1 x Thermometer 1 x Blue Wick Pin 1 x 75x100mm Pillar Mould WickWell P2 Candle Wick (for this diameter,...

Product Highlight: Woodwick Candle Wicks

Wooden wicks can be a fantastic alternative to traditional cotton candle wicks. One of the advantages of using a wooden wick is that common problems with cotton wicks (such as mushrooming) are not applicable to wooden wicks. Another benefit of wooden wick candles is that since wooden wicks are rigid they require no support from a wick centering tool . This means that set-up is super simple, requiring only setting them in the wick sustainer and placing them in the container with a glue dot. Candles made with a natural wood wick are enhanced with the soothing fragrance of burning wood combined with the crackling sound of a wood fire. In the Lumetique Original Woodwick range, we offer a total of fifteen sizes. This is broken down into five sizes in three different ranges. Each pack contains a total of ten wicks and ten sustainers. All our Wooden Wicks are 128mm long and therefore additional wooden wick sustainers are available on our website for customers who wish to make two sm...

Product Highlight: Wick Centering Tool

A common issue which candle makers face is keeping their wicks central when making container candles. Some candle makers choose to use everyday objects however these can be much more impractical and less reliable. This is where our Wick Centering Tool comes in! The Wick Centering Tool, which comes in three sizes, easily allows you to achieve a central wick every time! The 85mm Wick Centering Tool also comes with several wick holes which is ideal for multi-wick candles. Simply secure your sustainer to the bottom of your container, thread your pre-waxed wick through the central hole, place the wick centering tool over your container and use the notch to ensure your wick is kept taught. The Wick Centering Tool can be used repeatedly and is a vital accessory for any candle maker! Available at: https://www.4candles.co.uk/candle-making-accessories/equipment.html#wct

Product Highlight: Bipol-X

Introduction: Bipol-X is one of our most popular wax additives. It is common misconception for new candle makers that Bipol-X improves existing scent within a candle however this is untrue. Bipol-X allows you to add more fragrance.   When used correctly, Bipol-X allows you to triple scent your candles – meaning you can add up to 30% fragrance oil! Bipol-X works by modifying the crystal structure of wax to prevent the leaching of fragrance oils from the wax. The additive will absorb the fragrance keeping the finished candle dry and eliminating sweating. Typically, most candle waxes can hold a 10% fragrance load. If you were to use more than this percentage the fragrance oil will begin to ‘sweat’ out of the candle. Characteristics: Format: Beads Melting temperature:   Bipol-X must be heated to a temperature of around 80C to melt. Pouring temperature: Dependent upon the wax you are using Bipol-X with. Using the Bipol-x: When using the Bipol-X, you do not nee...
